I understand your idea and respect that you find it inspiring, but I find it unfortunate that you are copying The Sartorialist exactly. You even stole the exact copyright statement off the website. Perhaps you can use your talent and your interest in The Sartorialist as inspiration, not as a way to copy someone else's idea completely.
As I mentioned in my about page, The Sartorialist is definitely my main inspiration for this blog. He travels all over the world taking photos of people, and I thought it would be a great idea to execute in a small local community like Kelowna.
There are so many photographers out there, and so much talent out on the Internet. I don't think anyone could really claim an idea entirely as their own, but that's why the Internet and art rules, as people are able to collaborate and try things for their own.
From what I know of the Sartorialist, he found his inspiration through street photographer Bill Cunningham: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Cunningham_(photographer)
These are also two other blogs that inspired me to do a street fashion blog for Kelowna: http://www.urbanweedsblog.com/ http://thestreethearts.com/
Not that wiki is that reliable, but looks like street fashion photography has been kicking it for awhile, as early as the 1800s!: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_photography It's great that photography has and will continue to be a creative outlet for photographers who put forth their effort and time.
It's incredibly important for photographers and artists to protect their work. As such, I have included a copyright statement on this website, just like The Sartorialist. Lucky for us in Canada, we don't actually need this statement for our work to be copyrighted, as we claim copyright of our own work automatically. Anyway, I wanted the copyright up there to further protect my images.
I appreciate your feedback. I hope this blog will inspire more people to start their own street fashion blogs (or blogs of any type) from wherever they are from!
